We are a full-service community-based health food store located 25 minutes from downtown Halifax, at the crossroads of St. Margaret’s Bay and Peggy’s Cove Roads in Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia. For tourists and day-trippers , we are conveniently situated at the start of the scenic Lighthouse Route.   

Mariposa was born out of our passion for good food, healthy living and concern for the environment. It is the culmination of years of study, travel, activism and teaching. The business is founded on three main principles:  

(1.) Local – We currently support more than 50 local suppliers and producers.  

(2.) Sustainable – We choose products that are spray and chemical-free or certified organic.  

(3.) Health-supportive – We endeavour to provide high-quality products that encourage and sustain the health of our community.  

We offer exceptional service, fair prices and sound advice to our customers in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.  

Mariposa Natural Market & Cafe also offers a comfortable seating area - the "Sunroom" -  where you can enjoy a healthy, fresh lunch; sip on a delicious, detoxifying green drink or juice; meet friends over coffee and a snack; or work on your computer using our free WiFi.
